I received a signed baseball card and photo from Bruce Berenyi today, my first autographs of 2008.

Berenyi enjoyed early success with the Cincinnati Reds (he finished fourth in the Rookie of the Year balloting in 1981) but he was plagued by injuries throughout his career.

He was traded to the Mets midway through the 1984 campaign and pitched well in New York. Berenyi missed virtually all of the 1985 season, but was able to return the next year and opened the season as a long reliever. He was shifted back into the rotation for awhile, but was demoted to the minors before the All-Star Break. He never played in the majors again.
