In 1984, Topps produced a parallel set for Nestle to use for a sendaway promotion. The Nestle cards are identical to the regular Topps cards, except the Nestle logo replaces the Topps logo on the card front.
The Nestle cards were only distributed in 132-card uncut sheets, but many of the sheets were cut and sold as individual cards.
Now you might be wondering why I have a Brewer as the card of the day… Bob Gibson pitched in one game for the 1987 New York Mets, who saw their pitching staff decimated by injuries (and other issues) the year after they won the World Series.
Thanks to the a 1991 stadium giveaway set sponsored by The Wiz chronicling the franchise’s first 30 years, nearly every player who suited up for the Mets from 1962-1990 has at least one card picturing him in a Mets uniform. Not Mr. Gibson. The other Bob Gibson, who was a coach for the 1981 Mets, is pictured on the Bob Gibson card in the Wiz set.
Somehow, I doubt anyone will be correcting that error by giving Mr. Gibson a Mets card. His New York career lasted just one inning. He faced four batters, walking one and striking out two.
